March 2025 Meeting
The Nicholson Women's Club met on March 18th at the United Methodist Church with President Rita Thompson presiding. We had two Keystone College students, one from Afghanistan and one from Thailand, talking about their countries' traditions.
It was reported that 65 Christmas bags for the shut-ins and 24 Christmas food basket for local needy families had been distributed before Christmas.
The schools have been contacted so students can submit letters to apply for our scholarships.
We received an advertising grant for Nicholson Bridge Day of $2,500 from the EMVB.
The Nicholson Bridge Day Committee will meet on April 29th at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church.
December 2024 Meeting
The Christmas Dinner location was changed to the Glenburn Diner. We had a lovely buffet and a good social gathering.
November 2024 Meeting
The meeting was held at the United Methodist Church under the guidance of President Rita Thompson. The Women’s Club participated in the town Halloween event.
The January, February and March meetings will be held at 2pm in the afternoon instead of 6pm.
The Christmas bags for the shut-ins will be assembled on Wednesday, December 11th at 1pm at the United Methodist Church.
On Saturday, December 14th Joan Kupetski and Alice Lengel will represent the Nicholson Women’s Club at the Christmas in our Town event in Nicholson from 3pm to 5pm.
The Christmas baskets for the neediest will be put together and distributed on Saturday, December 14 th at 8am at St. Patrick’s Church.
Bernice Lynch reported that 122 Tulips have been planted at the Circle near Rt 11.
The Christmas Dinner will be on December 10th at 6pm at Carpenetti’s.
Our speaker was Mary Griffin from St. Joseph’s Center. We supported their Diaper Drive with various diaper donations.
October 2024 Meeting
The meeting was held at the United Methodist Church hall with President Rita Thompson presiding. Nicholson Bridge was discussed and Marie Patti will contact the area's High Schools to look for volunteers to help on Bridge Day since we are always short-handed.

Treasurer Marie Patti reviewed the 2024/2025 budget and it was approved.
President Rita Thompson asked all members to donate diapers for St. Joseph's Diaper Drive; other baby products are needed also.
We will do another Purse Drive for the Women's Resource Center in the Spring of 2025.
The date to assemble the Christmas Cookie Bags for the Shut-ins is set for December 11th at 1 pm at the UMC hall.
Kathy Steele talked about the plans for the 150th celebration of the founding of Nicholson and asked for help in planning this event from all Nicholson organizations and people that are interested. Rita Thompson and Joan Jenkins will attend the 1st planning meeting on October 14th.
The Nicholson Women's Club will participate in the Christmas in Nicholson event on December 14th.
The next meeting will be on November 19th at 6pm at the United Methodist Church.
September 2024 Meeting
The Nicholson Women's Club resumed their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 17th, with a pot luck dinner at the United Methodist Church with President Rita Thompson presiding. She reported that Nicholson Bridge Day was a very successful event.
The Next meeting will be on October 15th at 6pm at the United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be Jessica Harker, the new editor of the Wyoming County Press Examiner.
May 2024 Meeting
The spring dinner was held at Bingham's Restaurant on May 14th. The club's historian Ruth Nichols honored long standing members with a rose and presented highlights of the club's history.
April 2024 Meeting
The April 16th meeting was held at the United Methodist Church in Nicholson with President Marie Mihalina presiding. The following officers were voted into office:

About 30 children participated at the Easter Egg Hunt in Nordahl Park on Saturday before Easter sponsored by the American Legion and the Women's Club.
Marie Patti reported that the Mountain View, Lackawanna Trail and Tunkhannock School Districts were contacted to submit applications for our scholarships
The May Dinner will be at Bingham's Restaurant on Tuesday May 14th at 5:30pm. Contact Marie King for reservations.
The annual Plant Exchange will be held on May 11th at 10am sharp. Invite your friends and bring a plant to take a plant.
Deb Sweppenheiser presented a program about the the history and present status of the Girls Scout Camp Archibald in Susquehanna County.
March 2024 Meeting

Rita Thompson mentioned that she had received 21 vendor reservations for Nicholson Bridge Day and our first Nicholson Bridge Day Committee Meeting will be held on April 23rd at 2pm at the United Methodist Church.
The local schools have been contacted for students to apply for our annual scholarships.
Joan Kupetski will take the hand bags and toiletries colllected at the meeting to the Women's Resource Center.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday April 16th at 6pm at the United Methodist Church in Nicholson. Exchange Students from Keystone College will share their experiences in this country.
February 2024 Meeting
Vice President Rita Thompson presided the meeting on February 19th at the United Methodist Church. We remembered our member Lorraine Schmidt who passed away on February 12th.
Rita reported that we received an advertising grant of $3,000 for Nicholson Bridge Day for 2024 from the Endless Mountain Visitor Bureau.
Joan Jenkins mentioned that the bids will go out for redoing the sidewalks on Main Street in Nicholson. It might affect Nicholson Bridge Day.
Together with the American Legion, we will sponsor the Easter Egg Hunt in Nordahl Park on Sat. March 23rd at 1pm. Rain Day will be Sat, March 30th at 1pm.
We are planning to give 1 scholarship each of $500 to Lackawanna Trail, Mountain View and Tunkhannock High Schools this year.
Joan Kupetsky handed out purses to be filled with hygiene and other items to give to Women's Resource Center. She will collect them at the next meeting.
Our speaker for the evening was Bill Kern from the Countryside Conservancy. He reported about the progress of the walking trail on the old Trolley tracks and Countryside Conservancy Preserves and Easements.
January 2024
The January 16th Women's Club meeting was cancelled because several members contracted Covid or RSV, and the weather forecast looked bad also.
December 2023
Our Christmas Dinner was held at Ron and Marcine Carpenetti's Inn the Beginning, and enjoyed by everyone.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 16th at 6pm at the United Methodist Church in Nicholson.
Our speaker will be Bill Kern from the Countryside Conservancy, which is dedicated to preserving land and water in Wyoming County and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Invite a neighbor or friend who is interested in this subject. Everyone is welcome.
November 2023
Vice President Rita Thompson opened the meeting at the United Methodist Church on November 21st. Marie Patti reported that she handed out treats on Main Street at the Nicholson Merchants Halloween Event in town.
Plans were made for assembling 60 Christmas bags for the shut-ins on December 13th at 1 pm at the United Methodist Church, and for the Christmas food baskets for needy families in cooperation with St. Patrick's Church on December 16th at 8am at St, Patrick's Church in Nicholson.
Our Christmas Dinner will be at the Inn the Beginning (Carpenetti's) on December 12th at 5:30pm. For reservations, call Catherine Hynes.
We will help with the Christmas in Town event on December 9th from 3-5pm at the NAPA Christmas lot.
October 2023
President Marie Mihalina presided the October 17th meeting at the United Methodist Church. The 2023/2024 budget was discussed and approved.
The Women's Club is going to help with the Trunk or Treat Event at the Carnivals Grounds on October 21st.
September 2023
The September meeting was held on the 19th at the United Methodist Church. We had the traditional pot luck dinner which everyone enjoyed. Vice President Rita Thompson welcomed two Girl Scouts whom we had invited. They were from the Factoryville Troop that performed the flag salute on Nicholson Bridge Day.
We reviewed Bridge Day and Rita handed out the new club books for the next 2 years.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 17th, at 6pm at the United Methodist Church.
May 2023
The spring dinner was held on May 16th at the Inn the Beginning.

Our April meeting was held on April 18, 2023 at the United Methodist church in Nicholson.
Our club will give one scholarship of $500 to one recipient each of Lackawanna Trail High School, Mountain View High School, and Tunkhannock High School.
Our spring dinner will be on May 16th at 6pm at the Inn the Beginning (Carpenetti).
Toni Graytock is working on the vendor applications for Nicholson Bridge Day, and the Chicken BBQ committee is exploring different merchants for their supplies needed. The Bridge Day advertising committee has met to get the promotion for Bridge Day started.
The plant exchange will be on Saturday, May 20th at 10 am sharp at Nordahl Park in Nicholson. (Bring a plant, take a plant)

March 2023
The March 21st meeting was held at the United Methodist Church with President Marie Mihalina presiding.
The scholarship committee proposed to select 2 seniors from Wyoming County schools for 2 scholarships of $500 each. Final decision will be made at the April meeting.
The spring dinner is tentatively set for May 16th.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 1st at 1pm at Nordahl Park with a rain day of Saturday, April 8th.
Nicholson Bridge Day preparation are under way. It will be on Main Street on September 10. The Nicholson Merchants will help with finding music and children's games.
Tiffany Benedict from the Women's Resource Center picked up purses filled with personal care items that members had put together.
The plant exchange will be on May 20th at 10am sharp at Nordahl Park.
Wyoming County Heart & Soul will have a program and free dinner on Saturday April 1st at 4:30pm at the United Methodist Church.
The Wyoming County Master Gardeners gave an interesting program about composting, raised bed and spaghetti gardening.
February 2023
The February 21st meeting was held at the United Methodist Church with President Marie Mihalina presiding.
Our club received a grand of $3,000 from the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau and the Wyoming County Tax Fund to be used for advertising Nicholson Bridge Day.
Nicholson Bridge Day will be on Main Street this year.
A committee consisting of Marie Patti, Joan Jenkins and Marie Mihalina was set up to determine how we are going to select the recipient(s) for this year's scholarship.
Plans for the annual Easter Egg Hunt are under way.
Members are asked to bring items such as tooth brushes, lotion, and other personal care items to the next meeting. Joan Kupetsky has purses to be filled for the Women's Resource Center.
Bruce Herron of Nicholson Lumber offered to sell our Nicholson Bridge Puzzles at his store. Price was set at $5.00
PA Heart & Soul is sponsoring a dinner at the United Methodist Church on April 1st. The dinner is free for people from Nicholson and surrounding areas.
Alli Chapman is looking for sponsors for Ukrainian immigrants that will be here on a 2 year visa.
The meeting was followed by a presentation by Gina Suydam of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. The subject was how to promote and advertise our businesses and events to attract people to our community.
The November meeting was held on Nov. 22nd - one week later due to adverse weather conditions - with Vice President Rita Thomson presiding.
Treasurer Marie Patti reported the balances in our accounts and presented the final budget for 2022/2023.
Michelle Buddle has set up a Face Book Page for our club.
Joyce Spencer is looking for monetary donations, turkeys or hams for the Christmas baskets for the neediest. Call Joyce right away if you can make a contribution, especially if you can give a turkey. The baskets will be assembled on Sat. Dec. 17th at 8:30am at St. Patrick's Church in Nicholson.
The Christmas stockings/bags for the shut-ins will be put together on Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 1pm at the United Methodist Church. If you can donate items or help, call Karin Wellings.
The Christmas dinner will be held on Dec. 10th at 6pm at Binghams Restautant. We will order from the menu. Bring a friend and call Rita if you can attend.
The Nicholson Town Christmas will be on Dec. 10th from 3pm to 5pm. Our club voted to make a monetary contribution.

The Nicholson Main Street Merchants will host a Halloween "Monster Mash" on Main Street on Sunday Oct. 30th from 3pm - 6pm. Our club will serve hot chocolate and cider in front of the Diner.
Our program was about the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock. Hilde Morgan, one of the founding members of the Dietrich, spoke about the history of the theater.

The annual plant exchange was held on May 14th at Nordahl Park. There was a great variety of plants. Each person brought a plant and took a plant, just in time for spring planting. Catherine even brought curly willow trees.

New planters have been installed on Main Street. We received 2 wine barrels from Maiolatesi Wine Cellars in Scott Township, Nicholson Lumber cut them in half, making 4 planters. Our thanks to Sal and Bruce. The flowers truly beautify our borough. Thanks to Catherine!
The Nicholson Bridge Day Committee will meet throughout the summer months. Lots of excitement building.

Our speaker was Alli Chapman, who presented a powerpoint about Ukraine - mostly as it was in its beauty. We donated $100 to Ukraine Assistance.
